60Cr3 (1.7177) spring steel has higher strength, plasticity and toughness, better hardenability, lower overheating sensitivity than manganese steel, higher than silicon manganese steel, less decarburization tendency than silicon manganese steel, and greater tempering brittleness. It is used to make leaf spring with heavy load and large stress and coil spring with large diameter in vehicle and tractor industry.
