The performance is basically the same as that of 35SiMn steel, but its strength, wear resistance, and hardenability are slightly higher, with a tendency towards temper brittleness and slightly lower machinability. After proper heat treatment, the strength, wear resistance and Hot working of this steel are better than those of 40Cr steel, and it can also be used instead of 40CrNi steel.
This type of steel is mainly used as surface quenched steel. Used for manufacturing gear parts with medium speed and medium load under high-frequency quenching and medium temperature tempering conditions; Used for manufacturing large cross-sectional parts with high surface hardness and high wear resistance, such as spindles, shafts, gears, etc., in the high-frequency quenching and low-temperature tempering state after quenching and tempering. It can also be used to produce parts with medium speed and high load, such as gears, spindles, hydraulic pump rotors, sliding blocks, etc., in low and medium temperature tempering conditions after quenching.
