Raw Material Selection: High-quality carbon steel or alloy steel is usually selected as the blank. Common materials include 10#, 20#, 45# steel, etc. According to different usage requirements, special materials such as stainless steel are also used. The quality of the raw materials directly affects the performance and quality of the precision tubes. Therefore, strict inspections should be carried out on the raw materials, including chemical composition analysis and mechanical property testing.
Tube Blank Cutting: According to the required length and specifications of the precision tubes, the selected steel blanks are cut into appropriate lengths. The cutting methods usually include sawing and shearing. Sawing has higher precision but relatively lower efficiency; shearing has high efficiency, but it may produce certain burrs and deformations at the cut, which require subsequent treatment.
 
2,Heating
The cut tube blanks are heated to an appropriate temperature, generally around 1000 - 1200°C. The purpose of heating is to reduce the deformation resistance of the steel and improve its plasticity, so that plastic deformation can be carried out smoothly in the subsequent piercing and rolling processes. Common heating equipment includes pusher-type reheating furnaces and walking-beam reheating furnaces. During the heating process, the heating temperature and time should be strictly controlled to avoid defects such as overheating and burning.
 
3,Piercing
A piercing machine is used to pierce the heated tube blank into a hollow mandrel. The main types of piercing machines include cross-rolling piercing machines and push-rolling piercing machines. During the piercing process, the tube blank rotates and moves forward under the action of the rolls, and at the same time, it is affected by the axial force of the plug, gradually forming a hollow mandrel. In the piercing process, parameters such as the rotational speed of the rolls, the feed angle, and the position of the plug should be well controlled to ensure the quality of the mandrel and avoid defects such as internal and external folds and out-of-tolerance ovality.

4,Pickling
The surface of the pierced mandrel usually has a layer of scale, which needs to be removed by pickling. Pickling generally uses acid solutions such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. The mandrel is immersed in the acid solution, and the scale reacts chemically with the acid and dissolves in the acid solution. After pickling, the surface of the mandrel should show a metallic luster without obvious residual scale. After pickling, the mandrel also needs to be washed with water and neutralized to remove the residual acid solution on the surface to prevent the acid solution from affecting the subsequent processing equipment and product quality.
 
5,Cold Drawing or Cold Rolling
Cold Drawing: The pickled mandrel is drawn through a series of dies from small to large, so that its diameter and wall thickness gradually decrease to reach the required precision dimensions. During the cold drawing process, the mandrel undergoes plastic deformation under the action of the die, and its structure is further refined, thus improving the strength and surface quality of the tube. The cold drawing process can produce precision tubes with high precision and high surface finish, but the production efficiency is relatively low, which is suitable for the production of small batches of high-precision products.
Cold Rolling: Cold rolling is to roll the mandrel through a multi-pass cold rolling mill to further improve the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the tube. During the cold rolling process, the tube undergoes continuous plastic deformation under the action of the rolls, and its precision control is more accurate and the surface quality is better. The cold rolling process has high production efficiency and is suitable for the production of large batches of high-precision products, but the equipment investment is relatively large.

 
6,Heat Treatment
According to the material and usage requirements of the precision tubes, heat treatment is carried out on the tubes after cold drawing or cold rolling. Common heat treatment processes include annealing, normalizing, quenching, and tempering. Annealing can eliminate the residual stress inside the tube, reduce the hardness, and improve the plasticity and toughness; normalizing can refine the grains and improve the strength and toughness of the tube; quenching and tempering are usually used in combination to obtain good comprehensive mechanical properties. During the heat treatment process, parameters such as the heating rate, holding time, and cooling rate should be strictly controlled to ensure the heat treatment effect.
 
7,Straightening
The tubes after cold drawing, cold rolling, and heat treatment may have certain bending and deformation, and need to be straightened by straightening equipment. There are many straightening methods, such as pressure straightening, tension straightening, and roller straightening. Roller straightening is one of the most commonly used methods. It repeatedly bends and straightens the tube through multiple rollers to make the tube meet the required straightness requirements. The straightness of the straightened tube should comply with relevant standards and customer requirements.
 
8,Finishing
Cutting: According to the length required by the customer, the tube is cut into fixed lengths using cutting equipment. The cutting methods include sawing, plasma cutting, laser cutting, etc. Sawing is suitable for cutting with general precision requirements, and plasma cutting and laser cutting have higher precision but relatively higher costs.
Chamfering: Chamfering treatment is carried out on both ends of the cut tube to facilitate subsequent assembly and use. The chamfer angle and size are usually processed according to the customer's requirements.
Surface Treatment: According to the needs, further surface treatment is carried out on the precision tube, such as polishing, electroplating, painting, etc. Polishing can improve the surface finish and aesthetics of the tube; electroplating can improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the tube; painting can play the role of anti-corrosion and decoration.

 
9,Inspection
Dimensional Accuracy Inspection: Measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and outside diameter measuring instruments are used to measure the outside diameter, inside diameter, wall thickness, length, and other dimensions of the tube to ensure that the dimensional deviations are within the specified range.
Surface Quality Inspection: Through visual inspection or using equipment such as a surface roughness tester, check whether there are defects such as cracks, scratches, pitting, and scale on the surface of the tube, and whether the surface roughness meets the requirements.
