37MnSi5 is a kind of alloy quenched and tempered steel with good performance and relatively economy. The steel has good hardenability, the critical hardenability diameter in water is 24~47.5mm, and the critical hardenability diameter in oil is 11~27.5mm. After quenching and tempering, it has high strength and wear resistance, good toughness and fatigue strength, and medium cold deformation plasticity; There is a tendency of temper brittleness, slight decarburization, white spots and overheating sensitivity during heat treatment. Used as medium speed and medium load parts; Or it can be used as parts with high load and little impact under quenching and tempering conditions, or parts with large section and requiring surface quenching. In the general machinery industry, this steel is used for manufacturing transmission gears, main shafts, mandrels, rotating shafts, connecting rods, worms, trolley shafts, generator shafts, crankshafts, flywheels and large and small forgings; In steam turbine manufacturing, it is used as main shaft and hub with operating temperature below 400 ºC and diameter within 250 mm, impeller with thickness below 170 mm and various important fasteners; In agricultural machinery, it is mainly used to manufacture wear-resistant parts such as hoe handle and plough shaft. In addition, it can also be used as thin-walled seamless steel pipe.
